The model of the villa was manufactured using Cenon CAM. Actually that's a real photo of the model. The parts of the model were exported from an architecture software (if I remember right) and then imported via the DXF import of Cenon. For Fedora, you will probably need the newest GNUstep RPM packages compiled on SuSe 9.3. I am a plain and simple Linux user and don't know much about version incompatibilities between different Linux distributions.=20 Since you have mentioned the RPMs with reference to my Fedora query, I assume these RPMs will run on my Fedora Core 3. As an aside: I have learned to compile programs from sources (configure/make/make install ..) and like to install programs in my own /home/my-user-name/bin directory tree as that keeps the base OS intact and stable. Accordingly, I would be thankful if you could give me pointers to the sources of these RPMs so that I can compile them in my own directory (instead of installing them in the user/local or other system directory). However, if, for some genuine reasons, you are reluctant to provide me the source links (because of difficult compilation options, etc.) then I would rather install the RPMs+Cennon on my experimental machine - it is still fine with me. I never tried startup so far, but it makes installation and configuration easier. This file then can be send to the plotter via the unix tool cat (see man cat), for example. It is also possible to use Cenon CAM to comfortably drive a cutting plotter. It's definitely an overkill, but we do this. You can start Cenon from the command line with: openapp Cenon you can also start the executable directly: /usr/GNUstep/Local/Applications/Cenon.app/Cenon The native way would be to use the GNUstep File-Manager (GWorkspace) and start Cenon.app with a double click. If the file is in /usr/GNUstep/System/Library/Libraries/ and the link is working, then you probably didn't run the GNUstep.sh script to make the path known to your environment. . /usr/GNUstep/System/Library/Makefiles/GNUstep.sh This should be sourced at login in the .xinitrc file. Launch Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities) and type this followed by return open -a cenon; screencapture -ic The cursor will change to allow you to select the area you want to capture. When you let go the button you will have what you want on the clipboard. Cenon offers PDF and EPS to other programs. Bitmap is prepared but not fully implemented yet. Cenon doesn't offer the old PICT format. With TextEdit, Copy and Paste from Cenon works and places a vector file into TextEdit, which is scaleable. OS 9 or Carbon applications may not be able to understand all the new possibilities of Mac OS X. Another way to go is to export to file. Cenon will export a simpler EPS format than is placed on the pasteboard. To use exported EPS sometimes works better than Copy/Paste. Are you using Debian? As an example, GNUstep GUI 10.3 is not binary compatible to previous versions. A solution is to acquire the right version of the GNUstep Libraries. Especially the Model bundle, loading the interface files. It helps to recompile GNUstep GUI (make clean + make). Recompiling either Cenon or GNUstep GUI is known to help in both cases. Unfortunately, nothing I have tried so far has worked. No matter what I try, I keep getting this error message that says Critical Error in Cenon NSRangeException: Index 0 is out of range 0 (in 'objectAtIndex:') which incidentally is also the very first item in the FAQ on the Cenon webpage under Linux. So I guess I'm not the only one who has had this problem. :) I've done the following to try and get this application working: 1. Installed GNUstep and Cenon from the ubuntu repositories. 2. uninstalled the Cenon binary that was in the ubuntu repositories, downloaded the Cenon-3.82 sourcecode and then compiled and installed it myself. 3. completely removed all GNUstep applications and libraries from my system and compiled GNUstep myself using the gnustep-startup-0.16.0 package... and after I was done with that I compiled and installed Cenon again. All three methods that I tried have failed. I still get that error message. I have run out of ideas. :) So, does anyone reading this have any suggestions? The issue always dissolved after a make clean + make + make install of GNUstep GUI and Cenon. >From the Cenon FAQ (both answers are related): When starting Cenon I get the following error: NSRangeException: Index 0 is out of range 0 (in 'objectAtIndex:') This sounds like your GNUstep libraries doesn't fit the Cenon binary. As an example, GNUstep GUI 10.3 is not binary compatible to previous versions. A solution is to acquire the right version of the GNUstep Libraries. Another solution is to compile Cenon yourself against the installed GNUstep libraries. [2006-11-18] When starting Cenon the following error message appears: loading model file /usr/lib/GNUstep/.../Main.gmodel... recursion encountered handling uncaught exception Check, if Cenon has been installed in the correct path (/usr/lib/GNUstep/...). Debian uses a different install directory. If Cenon is installed correctly, then probably your GNUstep GUI library is not compiled the same way as Cenon (for example debug versus stripped). Especially the Model bundle, loading the interface files. It helps to recompile GNUstep GUI (make clean + make). I have Mac OS = 10.4.10. I installed Cenon and then gs in /usr/local/bin. When opening a = PDF file, the text and graphics do not appear in the ps file in = Cenon.
But I also run pdf2ps manually = from the command line and get the same thing.
What am I doing incorrect or do I misunderstand the = functionality of Cenon and gs?
